Brushy Peak Hike

On Saturday we headed to Brushy Peak for a little hike. I'm not really all that outdoors-y, but I like to get outside and exercise. I brought along a husband, a friend and 2 dogs.

Let's first talk about the hikes I've been on:

1. Tiger Mountain in Issaquah, WA, my first hike ever. The boys I hiked with decided that the trail was for wimps, so we blazed our own. Hiking = not so fun
2. Mt. Diablo. Nice, but annoyed when we got to the top and realized you could drive the whole way up.
3. Half Dome. Started hiking at midnight, got to the top in time for sunrise. Best hike ever.
4. Sunol. Nice, easy, rolling hills. Cows.
5. Pinecrest Lake look. It was hot and we didn't have water. But it was around a lake. So we could have gotten water at any point.

That's right. I've basically been on 5 hikes ever. Hike #6 was very similar to Sunol. A nice hike with a few hills. Not a lot of sun cover, but it was overcast. VERY windy, so we wore jackets. A lot of cow pies, just a few cows.

The dogs enjoyed it.

Why this hike is great!
  • No fees! Just park and hike!
  • There's even an outhouse at the staging area.
  • It's close! Get off 580 at Vasco and head North. Right at Frontline Rd (0.8 miles), L at Laughlin Rd. The parking area is at the end of Laughlin Rd (~2 miles).
  • Perfect hiking distance. The 4 mile hike took us about 1.5 hrs. But we're pretty fast
Things to be aware of.
  • Cows. They didn't bother us, but they can stare you down pretty good.
  • Ticks. We found about 8 on our dog.
  • Wind. It's windy. Bring a jacket.
Here's the trail we took. It might be a smidge easier on the knees if you do the reverse route.
